Special Event Station

activated by Jerzy 161 CI 101 to commemorate Warsaw Uprising, (August-October 1944), insurrection in Warsaw during World War II by which the polish underground resistance unsuccessfully tried to oust the German army and seize control of the city before it was occupied by the advancing Soviet army.

The Uprising began on 1 August 1944 and lasted 63 days.

It is estimated that about 16,000 members of the Polish resistance were killed and about 6,000 badly wounded. In addition, between 150,000 and 200,000 Polish civilians died, mostly from mass executions.

Jerzy will be active from his home QTH in Northern Poland.

His working conditions consist of a President Jackson I, a Pan DM 432 MT mic and a Sirio GPE 5/8 lambda antenna.
